On this page you will found our policy on pricing, payments and refunds and cancellations. These policies, terms and conditions work in conjunction with those listed on the left.
Prices
Family History Journey prices and fees are fair and competitive to reflect the quality and time of the work conducted on your behalf. The amount due is the amount quoted in GB Pounds Sterling - UK £ - regardless of current exchange rates. Except in very exceptional circumstances, the amount due will be that quoted on the Family History Journey website, or for custom research and projects given to you by email (the estimate or quotation will usually be valid for one month from the date it is sent to you), at the time of your booking request. Any special offers or discounts will be valid if the terms of any offer or discount are met.
Payments
Payments are only due once a booking has been requested by you and accepted by Family History Journey. For most packages and services a 50% deposit is payable before work begins on your Tree, Tour, Research or Lifestory project.
An invoice for the correct amount to pay will be sent to you by email via PayPal (the 'subject' of the email will contain a unique alpha-numeric number which will identify the email as genuine) with a link which will take you directly to the Family History Journey page to pay. PayPal can accept credit and debit cards from very many countries and bank or giro transfers. The PayPal invoice/email will enable you to pay the correct amount directly.
If you wish to, you can also pay via this website: Information / Make a Payment - which will take you to PayPal. Except for packages, you will need to enter the amount you are paying.
The balance will be due once you receive an email from Family History Journey confirming that the work is complete. To receive the results you will need to pay the balance due. Again you will be sent an invoice / link by email via PayPal which will enable you to pay directly using any credit or debit card. If you wish to use another method of payment (such as a cheque/check), you should contact Family History Journey in advance and await confirmation that the method you suggest is acceptable.
Refunds and cancellations
Until you have received acceptance of your booking request and paid the deposit, you are under no obligation to Family History Journey. If you wish to cancel a service (such as, and not limited to, a Tree, a Tour or an archive search) after you have paid the deposit, the deposit will not be refunded.
Tour customers and clients pay the balance of the tour price 21 days before the tour is due to take place. If you cancel within 10-20 days of the tour taking place, 50% of the price will be refunded, but if you cancel within 9 days or less of the tour taking place, there will be no refund. It is strongly recommended that you take out cancellation insurance.
Clients and customers who have purchased Tree, Research, Lifestory or other genealogy / personal history services pay the balance of the price when the work has been completed, but before the results are released. If you cancel before the work has been completed, a calculation will be made concerning the amount of work done and expenditure incurred to date and told how much you should pay to receive any incomplete results. Family History Journey reserves the right to withhold results until all moneys due have been paid.
