- Family History Journey takes confidentiality, privacy and security very seriously.
- Any information given to, or discovered in the research process by, Family History Journey about you or any living person will be held securely, not disclosed without prior permission, and held for no longer than necessary.
- Cookies are not required or used by Family History Journey. For site security, management and development purposes, statistical data collected may include, and is not limited to, how many visited the site, when the site is accessed, the geographic location of the computer used, pages visited, the type of browser used and the site previously visited.
- Family History Journey is subject to English law, including data protection and security law.
- All payments made by credit card and/or debit card are processed by an internationally recognised third party (currently PayPal). Their data security and protection policies can and should be checked independently. Card information is not given to, collected or stored by Family History Journey.
- Family History Journey will not sell or rent any information given by you to any third party, or disclose your information to any third party that is not acting on behalf of, and at the request of, Family History Journey. No such third party will ever be used without having previously ensured that their data security and protection procedures are adequate.
- When you contact Family History Journey via the website, the information you give is sent by email and used to contact you. Please be aware that email cannot be considered to be completely secure against interception. Under certain rare circumstances, such as in the detection of illegal, fraudulent or deeply offensive activity, disclosure to law enforcement agencies may be necessary. When you contact Family History Journey you agree to this, and all current policies, and give your permission.
- The findings of any research conducted on your behalf, including your ancestors and their families, is not reproduced or used for any other purpose without your permission. Although data concerning deceased people, including your ancestors and their families, is not subject to data protection law as such, nevertheless it will not be used or disclosed to any third party without prior permission.
- You are entitled to request details of any information Family History Journey holds about you at any time - for which a small fee (usually £12) will be charged.
- Changes may be made to this policy from time to time and you are advised to review it regularly.
